" If he's not the Bruiser," said Inspector Brightone, "either Sam wade or Solomon Isaacs is."
"yes," said the D.A.,"but Sam Wade might also be the Squealer or the Spider."
"Andy MacPhail,"said Brightone, "is either the Sprinter or the Dixie Kid. But he can't be the Dixie Kid if Isaacs is the Bruiser ."
"On the other hand,"said Gettum, "Harry Bennett may be the Sprinter or he's Two-Gun Titus."
"Reverting for one moment to Isaacs,"said the D.A.,"who can he be if he's not the Bruiser?"
"The Spider,"said Brightone. "The most dangerous guy of the lot."
"That's right."said Gettum."Or,again, he might be One-Eyed Mike."
"I've heard nothing yet,"said the D.A.,"about David Davies. Except that he can't be the Spider."
"And he can't be the Bruiser,"said Brightone. "He might-though I doubt it be the Dixie Kid or Two-Gun Titus. But one or other of those is Morgan Evans."
"And that's all we know?" Asked the D.A.
"Not quite,"said Gettum. He consulted his notebook."Here are some more scraps of information. If Davies is One-Eyed Mike, Isaacs is not the Spider. If Davies is the Squealer, Ezra Smith is not One-Eyed Mike. And, if Ezra Smith is the Bruiser, the Spider can't be Sam Wade."
